Independent Village Tour:
The most affordable and authentic experience.
Organized tours in the city often feel like staged performances for tourists and, of course, lack authenticity.
You can explore both villages:
Zinacantán: Agriculture, livestock, art and more.
Chamula: Markets and a small jail for drunkards—Wild West style.
In between, it’s recommended to take a Tuktuk (Moto-taxi) 🛺 and explore the area and the villages.
Transportation:
To and from the villages by taxi (around 120 pesos each way, plenty available on the street).
Or by colectivo (just search on Google Maps for “colectivo Chamula”).
Note: It’s best not to visit at night—it’s less friendly.
Photography should be done from a distance without showing people’s faces.
